Earth Day is April 22. It's a good time to remember that the UCC recognizes The Park Church as a Climate Justice Congregation.
Our Covenant says:
"We seek to respect God's creation by focusing on the connection between climate change, planetary health, and human rights. We live our faith by caring for those impacted most by climate change. We commit to care for the earth, to grow closer to our natural world, and to encourage personal and shared engagement by our church."
Now more than ever we are called to live into the promises of our Covenant, to resist executive orders and policies that leave our planet and life on it even more vulnerable to global warming and environmental degradation. Join with members of the Climate Justice Team in our Earth Day Sunday service on April 27, where we will offer words of concern, love, hope, and action for our fragile planet. Beth Frigard will deliver the sermon.
Beth was ordained as a UCC minister at The Park Church in 2014 and served as the interim pastor of The Big Flats Presbyterian Church from 2016-2019. She began the website Preaching Green in 2019 to offer "words and deeds to combat climate change." Her monthly "Seedlings" explore the science, politics, and human response to the climate crisis from multiple sources and Beth's own insights and poetry. There are suggestions for practical actions to take, both individually and collectively, and language to use when talking to others.
